Key Decision #1: (KC lead 14-10/4th & 1 DEN 29/7:34 Q3)
- Kansas City passed up a field goal to go for a 4th & 1 from the opponent 29 yard line. Generally we say take the points in this situation, especially when playing on the road.
Key Decision #2: (DEN trail 24-10/4th & 15 KC 16/7:14 Q4)
- Denver elected to throw to the end zone on a 4th and 15 when trailing by two touchdowns. It was getting late in the game so we understand the urgency to score, but we don’t think there are many good plays in the playbook for a 4th & 15. The pass was intercepted, and the Broncos went on to lose by three points, meaning a field goal here would have given them a chance to win.
- Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid did not call a very conservative game for the rookie quarterback getting his first start. He threw on six out of the first seven plays and was intercepted promptly.
- Denver was called for 12 men on the field in the red zone at end of 3rd quarter.
