• The Panthers committed a game clock management error in the closing minutes of the 1st half when they stopped the clock on an incomplete pass on a 3rd & 8. There was only 1:14 left in the half and they were on their own 5-yard line, so the chances of a scoring drive were low, but the risk of stopping the clock was that they were forced to punt the ball back to Washington with a minute left and excellent field position. They were lucky that a penalty took Washington out of field goal range, but this was a poor game clock management sequence nonetheless.
• Carolina did an excellent job of extracting production from an identified weakness in Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar. Both touchdowns occurred against his coverage. Credit to Carolina’s play calling and game planning.
