63 degrees, light rain throughout
- Philadelphia entered this game on a five-game winning streak, while San Francisco was still looking for their first win of the season. This was only the second start for 49ers rookie quarterback, C.J. Beathard. They entered this game as heavy underdogs.
- Conditions were wet with consistent, light rain throughout the day. This seemed to impact the passing game of the 49ers more so than it did the Eagles, as many of QB C.J. Beathard’s appeared inaccurate.
- The score may not show it, but the San Francisco defense deserves a lot of credit for their performance in this game. They limited the explosive Eagles offense for most of the first half, and really looked impressive both in run defense and in pass rushing. QB Carson Wentz, who has consistently made amazing plays navigating pocket pressure this season, really appeared stifled by the pressure on a number of passing downs.
- This game was 3-0 with two minutes left in the first half, but the Eagles managed to score 14 points in 31 seconds thanks in part to a turnover. As impressive as the 49ers defense played, their offense did not seem to have the firepower to overcome the large deficit. Up against a rookie quarterback, the Eagles defense was able to comfortably control the lead through the 2nd half, while the Eagles offense connected for a couple more touchdowns to secure a 33-10 victory.
