- Philadelphia was able to score a 59-yard touchdown and a 72-yard touchdown on two 3rd down situations. Credit to Philadelphia for seemingly understanding Arizona’s 3rd down defensive tendencies and taking advantage of it with major scoring plays.
- With 9:40 left in the 2nd quarter, the Eagles ran a nice draw play on 3rd & 17 that nearly picked up the 1st down but more importantly set them up to win the field position battle on the subsequent punt. In combination with the 3rd and distance touchdown strikes Philadelphia had delivered on other drives, it was hard to not to be impressed with Philadelphia’s situational awareness and play calling in these 3rd down situations.
- Very nice defensive play calling by Doug Pederson’s staff throughout the day to get significant pressure on Carson Palmer.
- Up 21-7 and getting the ball to start the 2nd half, Philadelphia executed a 6 minute drive that resulted in a field goal. Holding the ball for nearly half the quarter and going ahead 3 scores was an impressive display of play calling and game clock management, and really took the air out of Arizona’s hope of staging a second half comeback. Really nice job by Philadelphia in this game.
