Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks

Pete Carroll (66) began his NFL coaching career in 1984 as the defensive backs coach for the Buffalo Bills. After just one season, he was hired by the Minnesota Vikings to be the defensive backs coach. He stayed there from 1985-89 until he was hired as the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets. He was the defensive coordinator from 1990-93 before being promoted to head coach for the 1994 season. He was head coach for only one season before he was fired. From 1995-96 he was the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers.

In 1997, he was selected to be the head coach of the New England Patriots. He won the AFC East in his first season, but a steady decline in his next two seasons ended in his firing. After spending 2001-2009 as the USC head coach, he was hired to take over the head coaching job for the Seattle Seahawks. Under Carroll, the Seahawks made the playoffs in all but one year, won the NFC West title four times, and made back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, winning one of them. He has a 120-83-1 record prior to the 2018 season. HCR: 2017-2018
