HCR Coaching Spotlight: Top Assistant Coaches for NFL Week 3

HCR Coaching Spotlight: Top Assistant Coaches for NFL Week 3

By HCR Staff | Sept. 25, 2019

Here are the assistant coaches that get Week 3’s HCR Coaching Spotlight:

  • Dennis Allen, defensive coordinator, Saints — Former Raiders head coach Allen has done a remarkable job re-making the Saints defense.  He has great help in defensive backs coach Aaron Glenn and defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen, but Allen is the one making the calls under pressure.  Any road win in Seattle is an accomplishment, but this was a rare beat down.
  • Ken Dorsey, quarterbacks coach, Bills — QB Josh Allen is an incredible athlete who also was incredibly raw coming into the NFL. In his second year, however,  Allen is starting to show more polish, and some credit must go to Dorsey.  Allen isn’t nearly a finished product yet, but we are noticing more subtlety in his game, and that is a highly favorable trend for Buffalo fans.  Allen’s feel for the quick game, helped by newly acquired WR Cole Beasley, is improving every week.
  • Bo Davis, defensive line coach, Lions — The Lions’ DL played a very disciplined game in a road win over the Eagles, and strict discipline is what is needed against uber talented Eagles QB Carson Wentz.  It was clear that Lions head coach Matt Patricia’s game plan was to keep Wentz in the pocket, and that type of game plan is highly dependent on the defensive linemen staying in their lanes.  Credit Davis and his work this past week.
