- Offensively, the Chargers struggled all night with their tempo, and it appeared some of the difficulty was due to inconsistency in getting play calls in on time.
- Chargers head coach, Anthony Lynn, also had difficulty with clock management, burning two time outs in the first quarter, one on a questionable challenge. For their most critical drive of the game – the last drive – the Chargers had only one time out available.
- Broncos, head coach, Vance Joseph’s early game play calling was diverse and creative, and they sought to give QB Trevor Siemian more aggressive plays calls than he had last year, and he excelled. Defensively, the Broncos got consistent pressure all night long, and mixed in creative blitzes, particularly on one 4th & 1 play in the fourth quarter.
- Vance Joseph’s time out before the final field goal attempt was a good decision as it resulted in a field goal block on the next kick.
