• Green Bay did an excellent job of dialing up exotic pressures on third downs during this game. They often sent five rushers, and often from different position spots (linebacker, safety, corner) and it was extremely effective at disrupting the Rams offense in the first half. Credit to Green Bay’s game planning for this observation.
• As impressive as the defensive game planning was for Green Bay, Los Angeles deserves equal credit for making adjustments in the second half to counter the Green Bay blitz package. The Rams countered by bunching their receivers tight and finding soft spots underneath Green Bay’s man coverage. Credit to Los Angeles in-game adjustments.
• The Rams burned two timeouts early in the fourth quarter, but effectively used the game clock as a weapon throughout the game with uptempo play calling. Green Bay burned a timeout early in the fourth quarter as well, but saw their biggest mistake when it was not communicated to the kickoff return team that the kick should have been downed in the end zone in order to preserve time before the two-minute warning.
