- The Dolphins offense fell apart due to five turnovers in the game. They were unable to protect QB Jay Cutler and he was knocked out of the game at halftime. QB Matt Moore came in relief and played well. The Dolphins defense played much better in this loss than they had in an embarrassing Monday Night loss versus the Carolina Panthers.
- The Buccaneers couldn’t run the ball successfully but threw the ball well enough to win the game. They got WR Mike Evans (coming off suspension) the ball five times and rookie TE O.J. Howard involved in the passing game early with three catches and a score.
- Key Decision: Miami was without a timeout towards the end of the game as they unsuccessfully challenged a play in the fourth quarter that QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was down by contact. The play was upheld and the ruling on the field stood costing the Dolphins a timeout late in the game. They could have used a timeout towards the end of the game to give themselves an opportunity to win the game.
